EU ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
Under the present legislation introduced in 2010, a product can be considered to be organic if at least 95% of its ingredients are of organic origin. The rest of the 5% of ingredients are allowed to be of non-organic origin, but are strictly regulated and are considered as an acceptable error margin
SL ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
National Organic Certification Mark (NOCM or SL Organic certification) issued under SLS 1324:2018 standards by the National Organic Control Unit of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board prescribes requirements for production, harvesting, handling, processing, transportation, packaging, labelling and marketing of organic produce and products. NOCM requires for at least 95% of ingredients to be organic and additionally impose strict conditions for the remaining 5%
USDA ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
Applicable to the farms and handling facilities around the world, and published in the year 2000, a product under USDA can be labelled as “organic” only if it contains 95% of organic ingredients.
FDA CERTIFICATION
Initiated in the year 1906 under Department of Health and Human Services, the Food and Drug Administration is a US federal agency. It is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the control and supervision of food safety among others. It oversees the quality of substances sold as foodin the United States and monitors claims made in the labelling of both the composition and the health benefits of foods. FDA also controls the claims made by the manufacturers and distributors during any form of advertising of the food products.
JAS ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
JAS Organic certification, revised in 2005, defines standards for quality and specifications, and the processes of production and distribution with regard to products, and sets out standards for methods of product handling, and business managing methods in respect to the business operators. It also stipulates the testing methods of products, thus covering everything from beginning to the end in respect to certified products.
ISO 9001:2015 CERTIFICATION
The certification assesses the organizations in their ability to consistently provide products and services that meet their customer and regulatory requirements. As part of the organization’s growth, the certification helps them to organize processes, improve their efficiency and continually improve their management, production and services.
